For today's feature item I'd like to show you and item that is available in my stores, one of which is Etsy.com http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9376351 This is an 8x8 acrylic album. I titled this one "Our Special Day". You can use it for pics of a wedding, anniversary, prom or really any special day you have shared with that special someone.
The primary colors are black and white with a hint of red. Personal I think the black and white is romantic and glamorous.
I purchased a sheet of the acrylic at the hardware store and had my husband cut them 8x8, then drill 3 holes on the sides where I had marked. I ask for some extra holes in this one, some on top and others on the opposite side and top to add more ribbon.
On the front cover I place a strip of heavy red cardstock that I had punch the edge with the "Fiskars" Border punches, at the top center. I did not take it completely across the top as I didn't want it to interfere with the holes for the rings. Just thought that a hole and ring through it wouldn't look as nice. I used a sheet of black "Bazzill Bling" cardstock as a backing for my title. Using a piece of white heavy textured cardstock I printed the out the title, then cut out the words to separated and place on the backing. Added a couple of stars with silver "Stickles" and few punched out hearts. At the side of the title mat I placed a rub-on flourish also to be seen on the other side when you open the book.
Using the same topper and measurements for the mat at the front cover, I cut a piece of "DCWV Metallic" then with "DCWV Glitter stack" a piece just slightly smaller.
Now carefully placing it in the exact place as the front so none of the mats from the front showed through. However you can see the hearts and flourish very well.
Now on the next page I used the same cardstocks only making a circle mat. I placed a 3 stacked flower held with together with a brad and embellished with "Stickles" in the bottom corner, punched hearts at the top corner and another flourish just under the mat. This is one of the pages I had extra holes drilled for more ribbon.
As you turn the page you'll see I used the same concept of matching everything on the front side. This makes for a much better looking book than to see the back side of a mat with the glue and all.
On this page I used the "Bazzill Bling" cardstock as the base for my mat under "Bazzill" white that I punched with the "Fiskars Round Border Punches". Gives it a very pretty look. Matched the flowers and hearts. You can see the flourish through the page so no need to add anything there.
On the opposite page I use the white on bottom and black on top. Cutting a rectangle and punched with a corner punch the bottom mat. Adding some fuzzy fibers across the black piece and running a metal heart buckle slide to that. I'm also using the top of the mat as a pocket for a journal tag. Made from the white, trimmed with "Stickles" and a thin black with polka dots ribbon tied through the hole. The tag was made using my "Sizzix and the Scalloped tag die". I took ready made chipboard swirls made by "Maya Road". They come in this really cute little lunch box tin, any way painted it black with glitter. I also added a 3 tired stacked flower to this page as well only using a bit different kinda of flowers. Still attached with a brad and highlighted with "Stickles". You'll see the holes are at the top of this page for the extra ribbons.
The next page mirrors the previous one.
On the following page I used the "Creative Memories"cutting system to mat this mat. It is also used as a pocket for a tag. With a little white nylon flower at the top corner, hearts on the other and another rub on in the bottom.
Next page same as the last. Only this one is not a pocket.
The page beside that has a rectangle mat, swirl at the top as well as a black flower.
Ok now we got to the back cover. This one has a lovely poem I found on the web, titled "Love Can Be Like Lighting" author unknown. I attached some fuzzy fiber and a lovely heart charm on the side of this.
Well I hope you enjoyed looking at my creation and it inspire you to give acrylic a try. Now there are many ready cut books available to choose from in many shapes. So no need to put it off any longer.
Just remember the only rule of thumb is to mirror the back side of the page to the front for a much better looking book.
If your interested in purchasing this album just send me a message or email and I'll get it right in the mail to you.
